Bank on Boitron

Published on 05/03/2010 19:46

Doctor David looked to be getting back on track when fourth to Kalahari King over C&D last time and looks a serious contender in this Class 2 chase, but he has to concede 20lb to DE BOITRON, who has proved a tad frustrating, not always finding as much for pressure as seems likely, but I reckon he has a race of this nature within his range off this sort of mark. The last time Ferdy Murphy's charge encountered a decent surface he ran out an eays winner at Southwell last…

A penalty kick for Junior

Published on 05/03/2010 19:30

This race is best left alone from a betting perspective, with JUNIOR only needing to complete to open his account over fences. Alan King's charge, a Grade 2 winner over hurdles last season, jumped well when third to Latanier at Ffos Las last month and faces nothing of that rival's calibre in this beginners' chase.

Bahr looks bumper value

Published on 05/03/2010 19:26

This is a tricky bumper, but there's a big pot on offer and, despite being turned over when odds-on for his debut at Newbury in January, the Nicky Henderson-trained Cucumber Run is bound to be popular. However, he's likely to be plenty short enough in the betting and I suggest taking a chance on newcomer BAHR NOTHING, who looks a likely sort on paper. It's interesting that Henry Daly has opted to pitch the four-year-old, an £18,000 purchase by Bahri, into a…

Take Possol to outclass Grimthorpe rivals

Published on 05/03/2010 19:09

A cracking renewal of this valuable handicap chase and while there are many with claims, none make more appeal than POSSOL, who, aged just seven, is open to further improvement as a chaser. Currently available at around 20-1 for the Grand National at Aintree next month, the strong-travelling gelding landed a couple of novices’ hurdles in good style before the turn of the year, with Henry Daly opting to pitch his charge into that sphere with the preservation of his…

Pearlysteps can shine in novices' event

Published on 05/03/2010 18:54

Laskari is a useful chaser and could easily be up to landing this novices’ hurdle, which is no doubt a prep-race with targets at the Cheltenham and/or Aintree festivals in mind. However, it’s been a long time since he last raced over timber – over five years in fact – and I reckon he will struggle to cope with PEARLYSTEPS. Henry Daly’s charge has got the hang of things in this sphere the last twice, chasing home a fair type in Dr Livingstone at…

Squadron to have punters flying high

Published on 05/03/2010 18:49

An interesting and competitive handicap hurdle, complicated by the fact that a number of these have something to prove at present, while a few have been largely plying their trade over fences in recent seasons, so it’s a bit of a guessing game as to how they will fare back over hurdles. Alan King sent out the winner of this race last year and I have a suspicion that he may repeat the dose with SQUADRON. He was a shade disappointing in four starts last term following his …

A value Choice in the opener at Doncaster

Published on 05/03/2010 18:42

In the hope that first-time blinkers have the desired effect, the suggestion in this open-looking handicap is SERIOUS CHOICE, who hasn’t progressed in the way one would have hoped so far, but he’s still lightly raced in this sphere, may well improve now switched to handicap company off a feasible mark and the drying ground is in his favour. Philip Hobbs’ yard is firing on all cylinders in the build-up to the Cheltenham Festival – the Somerset handler…

See Ya Later Miami Gator

Published on 05/03/2010 18:24

There are some tight little races on the early card toight at Dunstall Park and in this we find all but a couple in with chances of taking the prize. Miami Gators yard have gone out on a limb putting in him on 9-02, but he is capable of carrying the weight to victory, its just a matter of whether something else in the race has been weighted even better. David Evans Tuscan King has to come into consideration as do any of his string that are entered into claimers, but at…

They dont laugh at New England

Published on 05/03/2010 18:21

We have a good sized field here and an open event. Not going to be easy to fing the winner, but the market is such that if we do, we could well get nicely rewarded New England has conditions in his favour and looks the better option at first glance. He has won in handicap company over course and distance in a seller last August and although fourth on his last two outings he is on a nice mark to go close. Dazzling Begum also holds that course and distance form and more…

Could it be the Well again again again..........

Published on 05/03/2010 18:17

Well Of Echoes is on a three win run and is favourite again, but probably with some justification. He goes off the same mark as last time and with his tactic of being held up the draw in eleven should not be too much trouble to overcome Hi Spec won here on his penultimate outing and the one in the form column may tempt a few to back him, but i would advise caution as that was a very poor race and although not too far away last time in a race he found the subsequent winner…

Would you ADAM and Eve it?

Published on 05/03/2010 18:07

There is one outstanding candidate for this maiden in the once raced and previous runner up West Emirates who found himself one too good last time out here. From the yard of Clive Cox we can expect to see more on his second outing and he has every chance of getting a handicap mark today. He will have o fend off the attention of Mark Jonstones Understory though who has a couple of races under his belt now but the yard dont seem to be on top form at present and certainly took a …

Sand could be no Saviour for the King

Published on 05/03/2010 18:01

Kings Icon is holding the favourites position already and is still going in the right direction, i dont find his price much value in this field though and i think we will be oppsing him this time. he is liely to get a place for fans of that bet but there is surely some better opportunities in this line up Saviour Sand looks good value at decent odds and certainly landed a few some nice returns last time when winning at 40/1. Kylie Manser is on boatrd once again to claim those…

An Admiral Performance

Published on 05/03/2010 17:49

Calculating is becoming quite frustrating for followers, the run of second places is now up to four consecutive races. If he is in front he gets caught, if he is running on, he just doesn't get there. I wonder if he will ever win again. He should be able to win a race of this nature and will surely do so soon enough but he has not done it so often its a worry at his price. Benedict Spirit step up to this trip for the first time on the flat for David Evans today,…

Finish the Day with Saintsaire

Published on 05/03/2010 13:51

As opposed to the normal top class bumper we have to close proceeding this afternoon we are being treated to a hunters Chase, and from a betting perspective i can find these almost as tricky as bumpers at times despite the form that usually on offer. I spotted and noted the performance of Alphabetical in June 2008 and duly noted that i wanted to follow him for three runs, which i did with some success. Another two wins from the trhee outings and i was very happy, and then that…
