England odds on in World Cup 2014 Group H betting

Despite England's poor showing at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, bookmakers believe that they will advance to the final stages of the 2014 version with the minimum of fuss and with joint Euro 2012 hosts Ukraine and Poland likely to prove their main opposition who could disagree?

With Fabio Capello due to step down as England manager after the Euro 2012 Championships betting on his successor will be popular over the coming months and should the bookies and fans favourite Harry Redknapp take over, then England's current best odds of 1.50 with bwin to land Group H will surely shorten.

Not since the eighties have Poland proved worthwhile opposition to any of the major forces of world football and despite having Borussia Dortmund trio Lukasz Piszczek, Jakub Blaszczykowski and Robert Lewandowski in their ranks England should have enough ability to see them safely negotiate Poland.

Ukraine did manage to qualify for the 2006 quarter-finals, but that was in the days when Andriy Shevchenko and Serhiy Rebrov were carrying all before them. Since then they've failed to qualify for the 2010 World Cup and their current squad hardly looks packed with bright young talent.
