Home Record Makes Stoke The Bet To Beat Wigan

It looks as though it is going to be yet another very successful season for Stoke, despite a blip that coincided with the busy Europa League campaign Stoke are doing extremely well once again and could gain their best ever Premiership finish which would be a fine achievement in a season where they have had far more games than usual. Wigan started the season extremely poorly but they have largely been in good form in recent matches and shouldn't be judged on their 5-0 defeat at Old Trafford, they never really stood a chance once Connor Sammon was sent off in the first half.

Stoke could be without central defender Robert Huth who picked up a knock against Aston Villa and he will be assessed close to kick off to see if he can feature here. Late decisions will also be made over Peter Crouch and Glenn Whelan, Crouch has missed the last two games with an illness whilst Whelan has a calf injury.

Wigan boss Roberto Martinez will be able to call upon striker Connor Sammon after his red card against Man Utd last week was rescinded. Wigan have no new injury problems ahead of this match but Roberto Martinez may elect to make a couple of changes with the prospect of three games in nine days coming up.

Stoke are always very strong at home, their ValueChecker Wikis show that last season 34 of their 46 points came from home games and the season before it was 35 from 45. So far this season it is 15 from 25 points that have come at home and Stoke should rarely be opposed at the Britannia Stadium, especially against a team who have lost six out of nine away matches this season.
