Hull City – Transfer News & Npower Championship Preview

Hull City, had an abject beginning and end to their season in this division last year. It was a season of three thirds so to speak. Very inconsistent and poor in the first and final thirds did all the damage, but the Tigers showed what they were capable of in an 18 match run between 9th November and 22nd February where they lost only once game. The team had a brilliant record on the road last term, in fact they gained more points on the road than they did at the KC. If the away form can be maintained and the home form improved to match, they would have every chance off making the play offs in 2011/12

The close season has been about strengthening the squad with the likes of Paul McKenna and Dele Adebola coming in from Nottingham Forest. Two players who know all about this division and what is needed. To compliment them, Hull have secured the services of a couple of Manchester United youngsters. Robbie Brady comes in on loan, whilst the deal for Joe Dudgeon is a permanent one. Another youngster, this time Hungarian goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi comes in from Liverpool.

Hull are amongst a host of Championship sides who are in the chase for Anthony Grant, the former Chelsea man who is at Southend

Valuechecker likes the 7/1 available with Stan James for Hull City to be promoted back to the premier League this season. Home form is key however.

Recommendation: Back Hull at 7/1 with Stan James to get promoted.
