Liverpool Worth Taking On Against Blackburn On Boxing Day

Being bottom of the Premiership at Christmas is usually a relegation sentence, only West Brom have escaped relegation after being bottom at Christmas since the Premiership began and things don't look good for Steve Kean's side at the moment. Things don't get much tougher than a trip to Anfield and Blackburn, who are without an away win this season, are predicted to struggle against a team that is unbeaten at home this season. Liverpool have been hitting the headlines for the wrong reasons during the past week and Kenny Dalglish will be hoping to let the football do the talking on Boxing Day.

Liverpool come into this match off the back of a surprise 0-0 draw at Wigan and the fact that Liverpool failed to score seems to sum up their season so far, they have been desperately short of goals with just twenty so far this season, that's only five more than lowest scorers Wigan. Liverpool are unbeaten at home this season but they have found wins hard to come by, five of their eight league games at Anfield this season have ended all square and Liverpool need to improve on that record if they are to get back into the top four.

Liverpool's poor striking record may improve against Blackburn's poor defence, they are within one goal of having the worst defensive record in the league but they have found goals fairly easy to come by, scoring four more than Liverpool this season. Blackburn are yet to win away from home this season but they have been tougher to beat than many other teams, they have drawn four and lost four on the road.

Liverpool are the most likely winners of this match but it can be argued that they don't offer much value at the current odds and instead of backing Liverpool it could pay to have a smaller bet on the draw. Liverpool have drawn five out of eight home games whilst Blackburn have drawn four out of eight away games and judging by the results so far this season a draw is as likely as any other result (if not the most likely).
