Man City Set To Regain Winning Thread Against West Brom

Man City are now eight points behind Man Utd in the title race and in all likelihood even a win won’t be good enough for Man City against West Brom tonight. Man City will still be looking to finish the season strongly though after a strong season for Roy Hodgson and Hodgson may still be after the England job so he will want his side to do as well as possible when the spotlight is on. Does ValueChecker predict a home win here or another poor result for Man City?

Man City may have only drawn at home last week against Sunderland but they have still been exceptional at home this season according to the Man City ValueChecker wikis. The wikis show that Man City have the clear best home record in the division (by six points) and they have only dropped points in one home match this season, last week’s game against Sunderland. In their 16 home games in the Premiership they have managed to score 47 goals and concede just 10 so they are still a very solid team to back at Eastlands.

Another reason to back City against thirteenth placed West Brom is that Man City have a great record against the 'lesser' teams in the Premiership, in the 10/11 season no team gained more points against the bottom ten teams than Man City who picked up 49 points against the bottom half in 18 games. This sort of record was hinted at the previous season when City picked up 41 points against the bottom half, that was the fifth best record that year.

According to the West Brom ValueChecker wikis, their best chance of victory, or at the very least scoring some goals against Man City, is likely to depend on whether or not Peter Odemwingie is involved as he has been an extremely important player for the Baggies since joining. Peter Odemwingie proved an outstanding signing for West Brom in the 10/11 Premiership season (his debut season for the club), not only providing his team with 15 goals but also 9 assists. If Odemwingie doesn’t play here perhaps it is best to back Man City to win to nil.
