Many thought, including Valuechecker, that the momentum reading brought into the play-offs last seaosn that they would progress to Wembley and untimately return to the Premier League. As it is, winners Swansea City saw them off in emphatic styel and Reading had to start looking at another promotion push for 2011/12.

Platers that will not be contributing to this seaosna effort include, Julian Kelly and Scott Davie who have moved to Notts County and Crawley repectively. Dave Mooney and Abdulai Bell-Baggie and both been released. Matthew Mills commanded a fee and went to promotion challengers Leicester City and Ivar Ingi marsson has moved on to Ipswich.

South African Bongani Sandile Khumalo has come in from a Spurs team he never made an apperance for after moving from Supersport. Into midfield comes Mikele Leigertwood. He spent last season at the Madejski on loan from Queens Park Rangers, but that deal has been made permanent for this season on a free transfer.

Reading are still looking at bringing more players in but have a strong squad under Brian McDermot and can challenge for promotion once again this season.

5/1 for promotion looks a good enough price, they could be trading much shorter than that if they get a good start and establish themselves in the top 6 early on. Likewise, Valuechecker likes the 16/1 for the Championship either win or EW, the price looks value.

Recommendation: Back Reading to win the Championship @ 16/1 EW, also 5/1 for promotion looks value
