Saints can go 6 Points clear at the Top of the Championship

Nigel Adkins, Southampton side scored yet another win at home in their Boxing day game at St Marys against Crystal Palace and can repeat the performance on Saturday as Bristol City visit Hampshire.

Southampton’s home record is one of the best in the entire football league. They remain unbeaten in the Championship at home this season, and we have to look back some 24 games to a visit of Brentford in league One to find their last home defeat. In the subsequent 24 games, they have dropped only four points with two draws. Take the FA Cup defeat against Manchester United out of the equation and the record extends to just a single loss in 39 matches at home.

That is the task facing Bristol City who sit in 21st position in the division. Level on points with Nottingham Forest who occupy the final relegation spot, away form has not been their strong point of a thus far, disappointing season.  Derek McInnes took charge of the club back in November and they immediately saw a resurgence in form and a move away from danger, but winless in the last five, they are on the fringe of the drop once again.

Southampton should have no problem in gaining a further three points in this game to take them 6 points clear of West Ham before they play on Saturday. Even 1.45 would look to be value based on the Saints home record.

Recommendation: It may be short but a 45% return on Investment for the HOME WIN, looks one of the safest of the weekend
