Stick With Demba Ba To Continue Streak Against Bolton

The two most out of form teams in the Premiership meet on Boxing Day but their league positions are very different. Bolton gained a great win against Blackburn last week and those three points ensured that Bolton would not be bottom of the Premiership at Christmas but they are still two places and three points from safety. Newcastle are seventh in the table but are the only team in the league who haven't won in their last six games and their great start to the season is in danger of becoming a distant memory. Demba Ba is due to leave for the African Cup of Nations next month and Newcastle could really struggle when that happens.

Bolton may be off the bottom of the table but no team has lost more games than the Trotters this season, they are yet to draw which means they have lost thirteen matches this season. The lack of draws for Bolton isn't restricted to this season only, their last draw came with eleven games remaining last season. The main reason for Bolton's struggles this season has been their home record, traditionally they are tough to beat at home but this season Bolton have lost seven out of eight games and have by far the home record in the league.

Newcastle started the season in great fashion and were tipped as outsiders for a top four finish but the inevitable slump has begun and it has probably been exaggerated by some injuries to key players and some tough fixtures. Newcastle have picked up just two points in six league games and that is the worst current record in the league. Demba Ba is still on fire though, the summer signing is the joint second highest scorer in the Premiership with thirteen goals in sixteen games this season and he has scored the last five goals that Newcastle have scored.

This game could be very close and if Bolton weren't so adverse to draws that would probably be the recommendation in this match but any of the three outcomes wouldn't be a surprise so it should be worth sticking to backing Demba Ba to score anytime. It seems that at the moment if Newcastle score then Demba Ba scores and since Bolton have the worst defensive record in the league (39 conceded in 17 games) you'd think Newcastle would be able to score at least once in this match.
