Czech out Petra Kvitova at 10/1 for Womens' Tournament

The womens' tennis scene is mighty interesting at the moment. Caroline Wozniacki has the honour of being the World number one, despite having not won a grand slam tournament but the feeling at Roland Garros was that there was any number of possible winners. It was not really a surprise that an outsider, Na Li, took the tournament.

Wimbledon is different to any other of course and SW19 will be welcoming back the dominant Williams sisters, Venus and Serena. Neither sister has been seen much this year due at least in part to recent injury problems but their collective experience of winning this prestigious event is a massive advantage. Kim Clijsters is another who has been held back by injury but again, she has the class to win this if staying sound.

Althought the Williams sisters have dominated in recent years, Russian-born beauty Maria Sharapova was victorious in 2004 and although 7-years is a long time in tennis, Sharapova is back in the kind of form that means she is one of the market leaders.

My idea of the value bet at this stage though is the 21-year old PETRA KVITOVA. Experience will be against her a little bit but she is a rising star and does not come with the injury worries of the older guard. In 2010, the Czech born player beat Victoria Azarenka and Caroline Wozniacki before succumbing to Serena Williams in the semi-final. Her season rather tailed off after that but in 2011,  she has been in great form, winning the Brisbane International, the GDF Suez in France and the Madrid Open. Beaten by Na Li in the quarter finals of the French Open but that can be excused. Limited form on grass but last year she showed she can handle it and hopefully she will have a good run through Wimbledon this year.

Recommendation: Petra Kvitova to win Wimbledon at 10/1 (widely available)
