Sheffield Wednesday the pick of League 1 promotion hopefuls

With the football season is getting very close now, it is time to pick a League 1 team to get promoted this year. Huddersfield are favourites in many books after going so close last year but my money is on Gary Megson’s SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY.

The Owls were disappointing for sure last season, with off the pitch financial problems rendering the club effectively bankrupt and manager Alan Irvine parting company with the club following defeat at Peterborough in the new year.

Still, that is all in the past and a new owner in businessman Milan Mandaric, together with a new manager in Gary Megson, could see the famous old club’s fortunes revived this campaign.

New signing Rob Jones has the qualities necessary to succeed in role as captaincy on the pitch and he is one of four new signings so far, the others being Jose Semedo, David Prutton and Julian Bennet. The team as a whole played well in defeating Worksop 3-0 this weekend and I think we can expect Wednesday to be bang up there from the off this time around.
